Animal Licensing:
Garden City requires all dog owners to purchase a license for their pet. This is in case an Animal Control Officer or another person finds the animal, the pet can be returned to its owner. The primary identification for dogs is a license worn on their collar. All other types of tags are considered secondary.

Ninety-five percent of lost pets found without a license or ID tag DO NOT get returned home to their owner, but One Hundred percent of lost pets found with an animal license are returned to their owner.
